System Integration Specialist

Description

Despite the position's title, this is an excellent opportunity for a generalist with broad knowledge of servo-mechanical motion systems, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to travel frequently.

The Systems Integration Specialist works with the engineering team to deliver new inspection systems and system upgrades to customers in a variety of advanced manufacturing industries, to research labs, and to NDT contractors. The systems we work upon can range from simple 3-axis rectilinear scanners with stepper motors, to complex gantry and immersion tank systems with coordinated surface following at astonishing resolution.

Responsibilities will include

  • participation in all phases of design, fabrication and assembly of new systems and components for system retrofits
  • leadership in on-site installation and acceptance testing
  • training of the customers on system operation and maintenance
  • provide rapid and effective technical support both on-site and remotely, both to customers and to other UTEX team members
  • leadership in customer relationship building and management
  • assist in the development of new business by listening to customer needs and by demonstrating new technologies to existing customers

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate has a varied technical background and strong interpersonal skills, with a history of problem solving to the benefit of clients and customers.

The ideal qualifications include:

  • demonstrated technical proficiency in electronic or mechanical
  • formal education: two years associate or technical degree is preferred with specialization in electronic systems, mechanical systems, or similar technical disciplines.
  • informal education: relevant training with up to three years of prior experience in a related field is also suitable
  • strong analytical skills yielding the ability to solve problems alone or in a team environment
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in modern communications tools - computer word processing, spreadsheets, CAD etc.
  • ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • facility with schematic diagrams, and written engineering technical documentation.
  • previous technical support experience would be an asset
  • experience in ultrasonic nondestructive testing would also be an asset
